TAYLOR'S SWIFT RESPONSE TO APPLE MUSIC
Apple Music bowed down to Taylor Swift after she took the software giant to book for not paying artists during the three-month streaming trial period to subscribers. "This is not about me," Swift wrote. "Thankfully I am on my fifth album and can support myself, my band, crew and entire management team by playing live shows. This is about the new artist or band that has just released their first single and will not be paid for its success".
She has withheld the streaming of her new album 1989 from Apple Music branding the company's free trial as "shocking". With a twitter following running into 59 million, Apple just could not ignore the extremely popular musician. They just relented and immediately agreed to pay artists for streaming their music during trial periods. She had also taken taken Spotify to task for similar reasons. Swift says her protestations are not tantrums of a petulant child and that many artists refrain from speaking up because they are in awe of Apple.
Meanwhile she continues sell her 1989 album on iTunes for $9.99. 1989 has notched up sales close to 1.3 million copies, becoming the best-selling album in 2014 in the USA and surpassing Coldplay's Ghost Stories figure of 750,000.
